League of Legends Clash Start Date and Sign-Up Time
The first bi-weekly Clash tournament begins on August 25 and lasts for the whole weekend. In order to register your squad, you’ll need to pick a team leader and have five players at least 30, have your placement matches finished and register your account by SMS. The SMS connection is brand new for the Clash mode, forcing users to connect a cell phone to their account. This keeps players from smurfing and ruining games at lower ELOs.
In order to register your League account with SMS, you’ll need to go to the Settings or Clash tab. There, it will ask you to input a cell phone number and country code (the United States is +1). When you register your number, you will be sent a text message that has a link you need to click on. Once your phone number is locked, you are stuck with it for six months so make sure it’s the right one.
On Saturday, different tiers have different cut off points. Tier 4, which most players will be seeded into, starts at 9 p.m. EST. on Saturday and ends at 11 p.m. Tier 3 starts at 9:30 p.m., Tier 2 at 10:00 p.m. and Tier 1 at 10:00 p.m. Once the bracket is formed, you’ll need to lock in the players you want to play with for the rest of the weekend. The first bracket is 4-team single elimination, the second is eight on the following day with the final rounds being a 16-team bracket. You can only have one substitute per Clash so make it count.
Players can earn trophies or Banners that appear on Summoner’s Rift for placing in the upper brackets of Clash. In order to compete in Clash, you’ll need to spend Tickets which will determine the amount of Orbs or Capsules you unlock. Tickets can be earned by missions or by paying 215 RP in the Riot Games store.
